Yesterday was a truly bumper day for our work supporting in house pro bono, one of our key strategic priorities.
Delivering the keynote speech to the Eagle Club in the morning, our chair, Sir Robin Knowles CBE, encouraged dozens of GCs in attendance to “enable the law to do more to help in a challenging world” through pro bono.
We are grateful to Eagle Club founder Lesley Wan for inviting Sir Robin and our in house pro bono consultant Mary Dobson Smith to this special day, hosted by CMS UK – a valued firm in the pro bono sector.
There was great interest in the room in the In House Pro Bono Pledge, the rapidly-growing initiative we launched two years ago with GC100 and the In House Pro Bono Group.
Later in the evening, we brought together in house lawyers and firm pro bono coordinators for an engaging and candid discussion about unlocking closer and more effective collaboration.
A massive thank you to Alvarez & Marsal for hosting the event, and to all who participated, breaking down the formal barriers to better understand the mutual challenges in making pro bono work.
