Volunteer Lawyer – Legal Advice Centre [Family Law] University of Greenwich Legal Advice Centre

  • Online or in person (Greenwich, London)

FAMILY LAWYER needed!

We are looking for student friendly lawyers (Solicitors/Barristers (3 year+ PQE)) to volunteer twice a term online, although interviews can take place in person if you prefer.

We only have one family law volunteer, at present, and another family lawyer would enable us to offer more appointments to family clients.

How we work:

After the client is triaged by the students, we book a 50-60 minute appointment for the client to see a volunteer lawyer. The service is advice only so does not involve casework although we do sometimes allow a further appointment, if deemed necessary.

The students conduct research and sit in on the interview to take notes. The volunteer lawyer interviews the client and provides oral advice.

We then work with the students on their research and drafting skills to prepare a letter which then sent to the volunteer lawyer to check whether the contents are correct.

We only ask that you attend two sessions during each term (Autumn and Spring).
