The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants are looking for an enthusiastic legal & policy volunteer to assist with research and preparation for their policy and strategic litigation work. You will have the opportunity to assist with work in the fast moving field of current immigration and asylum law on projects involving some of the most crucial human rights and public law questions we face today.
You will report to the Legal Policy Director and assist with legal research, finding and compiling case studies, research into policy making, analysis and compilation of relevant data and evidence, and drafting briefings for policy makers on live issues. This will be an excellent opportunity to see how strategic litigation combines with campaigning and advocacy work in the NGO sector.
The ideal candidate will have:
Legal education to degree level or beyond;
Excellent research skills and attention to detail;
Excellent writing skills, with a clear and direct style;
An interest in immigration, public, and human rights law;
An interest in immigration policy;
A commitment to equality and the protection of immigrants’ rights
